My promise is to always be a smart staffer: I will always staff events with people who I believe will positively represent your brand and drive the goals of your event!
How long have you been at your current job? 6 years
What’s your favorite thing about the event industry? It’s always something different. One day you can be listening in on the world’s greatest thought leaders and the next you can be in a room full of puppies and senior citizens.
Why did you join ILEA? I wanted to learn more about other parts of the event industry. In my world we are usually called upon once all of the planning and programing is in place. I want a chance to learn the pains of other businesses and see where we can help.
What have you enjoyed the most about ILEA? Not one of the members I have met is shy. Everyone is so outgoing and talkative. It’s definitely a match for my personality.
Best advice you have for others or have been given? I know people say this all the time, “Just keeping goin.” But it’s so true. There are times when situations in life get really difficult, but they are only difficult because we likely do not have the time or energy to deal with those situations. Just know that they will pass and to get through it is to tell yourself that it won’t be this way forever.
Favorite thing to do when you are not working? If I’m not working, I’m cooking and eating, and thinking of new and innovative ways to teach my 1 year old life lessons.
Most Recent Vacation Spot? Every day is a vacation, no matter where I’m at.
Favorite Austin Experience? Other than SxSW, I really love the Austin outdoor scene.
Favorite Austin Restaurant/Hang out spot? Favorite food? My family likes to eat a lot of veggies so we visit Mother Café often and we hang out at Zilker or on the Trail at least twice a week.
Any mentors or people who inspire you, you look up to – industry or non-industry? Absolutely: Tony Robbins, Elon Musk, Seth Godin, Dan Brenner, Jessica Lively, Gary Vaynerchuck, Casey Neistat, Dale Garnegie,
NOW FOR THE FUN QUESTIONS –
What is the neatest place you have ever visited? Budapest
If you won a million dollars, what is the first thing you would buy? A home for everyone in my family on the same block.
Who / What is your dream client or event? Mobile tours, ongoing experiential events
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I’ve been everywhere I’ve wanted to go.
What is a unique fact about you? My college was paid for through my gig as an underground poker dealer here in Austin, TX.
What is the weirdest place / person you have ever done an event or request for? We did an event with Red Velvet a few years ago. They did not tell us the location until the day of and we could not bring in our phones. After the event my team said they shared champagne with guest while John Legend played an amazing set on the piano. It was very strange leading up to the event but we trust Cindy and her team completely.
