Current Job Description:
- Unlimited consultations with clients via telephone/email/WhatsApp/Text
- Assistance in budget determination and breakdown as needed
- Discussion of theme, color, style and complete wedding/event design
- Research of wedding/event professionals in each category that fit client’s event style and budget
- Provide suggestions and guidance in making final vendor selections.
- Visit to both ceremony and reception sites prior to wedding
- Development of a detailed wedding timeline and floor plan for contracted vendors
- Follow up telephone calls to all contracted vendors prior to event/wedding day
- Wedding Rehearsal Supervision and Coordination
- On-site coordination and supervision at the ceremony site and during the reception
How long have you been at your current job? My event career started in 2016 when I was the Event/Logistic coordinator for a Travel and Tour Company, I facilitated and coordinated cooperate event and conferences.
Please list some previous experience you feel has helped you prepare for a career in the events industry? In 2007, I worked with a Travel and Tour Management Company as the Event Coordinator, there I facilitated and coordinated corporate events. In 2010, I planned a surprise 70th Birthday Party for my Mom, Many of the guest that attended offered to pay me to plan a surprise party for their loved one. I have since then successfully planned Family and friend’s Wedding and Birthday Parties more as a hobby. In 2012, I and my family relocated from Nigeria to the United States of America, I have since then been spending majority of my adult life developing skills and education that transcend to producing successful and memorable event. My 20+ working experience as a Graphic Designer, Lead Event Coordinator, Travel Logistic and Tour Consultant, Project Coordinator and Customer Service Rep. have increased the versatile nature in me. With my 3 Major relocation within 4 years from Lagos to Pennsylvania and then to Texas, I have learned to adapt to a new surroundings and different cultures.
My name is Ruth Bajimi, I am a Nigerian born, Texas Based wife and mother of a set of Twins. A dedicated Corporate and Social Event Planner with 10+ years’ experience. An energetic multi-talented professional with strength in flexibility and organization. A mentor and motivational speaker. I attended the Business Training Institute in 2015 for my Chattered Event Management Expert (CEME), I am currently attaining an Advanced Diploma in Special Event Planning and Design from North American Wedding & Event Academy and I hold a Bachelors & Master’s Degree in Business Administration. I have also attended Several Event Management Conferences and Workshop. I am a Current Member of International Live Events Association (ILEA). The need for Diversification, More knowledge, Professional Networking and being able to impact the event industry got me in attending some local and international event groups Happy Hour, More so that I was new in Austin and did not know anyone. My first Happy Hour with ILEA made me decide I was going to join ILEA Austin Chapter, everyone was friendly. I discovered my passion for planning corporate events in 2007 when I worked with a Travel and Tour Management Company as the Event Coordinator for US Commercial Trade Shows in Nigeria to the United States, there I facilitated up to 8 trade shows quarterly for over 50 Company Owners and Managers from different career field to attend several conferences in the US. My skill as a social event planner was discovered in 2010 when I planned a surprise 70th Birthday Party for my Mom, Many of the guest that attended offered to pay me to plan a surprise party for their loved one. I have since then successfully planned Family and friend’s Wedding and Birthday Parties. In 2011, I decided to turn my hobby into a Business, so with my husband’s support we registered my Event Management Company Named Steady Point Concept. In 2012, I and my family relocated from Nigeria to the United States of America. My resilient and commitment to live this dream in me made me persevere irrespective of ups and downs. My 20+ working experience as a Graphic Designer, Lead Event Coordinator, Travel Logistic and Tour Consultant, Project Coordinator and Customer Service Rep. have increased the versatile nature in me. What have you enjoyed the most about ILEA? The Meet up/Happy Hour.
Best advice you have for others or have been given? Best Advice I have for others is Never Give Up, Stay Focused….Best Advice I have been given is FAIL Means First Attempt in Learning. When you are new in something, know that it takes time to be perfect.
